Here are some (maybe not-so-frequently asked) questions with answers.
Namespaces are ways of organizing the Wiki's content into subsections. For example, the doclib namespace contains the files and pages related to the document library, and the figures namespace contains those for the figure repository. Namespaces can contain sub-namespaces. Access to whole namespaces can be set by the administrator, so that the doclib is only visible to center members.
The syntax page has information on the formatting used for editing the wiki – it is more simple than HTML or LaTeX.
The public can read some sections of the site. If you are a Wireless Center member you can create pages, edit pages, and upload files once you have logged in.
If you are a Wireless Foundations student, postdoc, visitor, or faculty member, you can email the admin to get an account on the Wiki. This will let you create and edit pages in most of the namespaces. If you are not affiliated with the center but would like to contribute to the figure repository, please let us know and we will try to arrange something.
Security and copyright.
You can make a page by editing an existing page and adding a link to your desired new page. DokuWiki will realize that the new page doesn't exist, so the link will appear in a different color (at the moment, orange). When you click on the orange link it will give you the option of creating the new page. Note that you must be logged in to make a new page.
Changing the access permissions on a page is an administrator feature. Please contact Anand or Amy for help with this.
If you edit a page, you will see a row of buttons above the editing window. The one with a picture frame on it, when clicked, will pop up a new window that has an upload dialog. Note that files uploaded files are associated with the namespace of the page in which they are uploaded, so a file uploaded on Information Theory figures page will be part of the figures namespace.
At the moment, file upload is limited to files under 2 MB (this is a security “feature”). If you need to upload a larger file, ask the administrators.
