2007
- Dr. Daniel Schonberg has graduated with his Ph. D and now works as a Software Development Engineer at Microsoft. He is a member of the Core Media Processing Technology Team.
- Jonathan Tsao is working as a Scientific Adviser at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP. He works in the Patent Litigation and Patent Prosecution groups in Menlo Park, California.
- This summer our students gained valuable research experience as interns at various companies. Cheng Chang interned at HP Labs, Krish Eswaran conducted research at the Broad Institute, Pulkit Grover interned at Wionics Research Lab, Hari Palaiyanur worked at Nokia and Alex Dimakis and June Wang both spent the summer at Microsoft Research.
- Cheng Chang, Lara Dolecek, Vinod Prabhakaran and Daniel Schonberg were awarded their Ph.D during commencement ceremonies. Congratulations graduates!
- Prof. Randy Berry from Northwestern University spent two months at the Wireless Foundations Center to collaborate with the faculty and students.
- Prof. Suhas Diggavi from EPFL visited the center to collaborate with the faculty and students.

2006
- Congratulations to Mark Johnson, Krish Eswaran, Anand Sarwate, June Wang, Salman Avestimehr, Alex Dimakis, Lenny Grokop, Animesh Kumar, and Rahul Tandra for passing their quals!
- Dr, Mukund Thattai, faculty member at The National Center for Biological Sciences gave two talks, "Gene networks in theory and practice" and "Encoding evolvability," during his visit this summer.
- Rajiv Laroia, senior vice president of engineering for Qualcomm Flarion Technologies, visited in June and gave a talk on "Lessons Unlearned in Wireless."
- Salman Avestimehr, Alexandros Dimakis, Krishnan Eswaran, Dan Hazen, Paolo Minero, Bobak Nazer, Hari Palaiyanur, Anand Sarwate, Jonathan Tsao, Sameer Vermani and June Wang earned their Master's degrees. Congratulations!
- BAD 2006, the Bay Area Day on Signals, Information, and Control was held on June 2nd, 2006 in 290 Hearst Mining. The symposium was hosted by Michael Gastpar and David Tse from Berkeley and Balaji Prabhakar and Tsachy Weissman from Stanford.
- Photos from the MSRI workshop on The Mathematics of Relaying and Cooperation in Communication Networks are now online.
- A new guide on LaTeX usage complete with customized templates has been added as part of the resources section. Much thanks to Anand Sarwate for putting this together.
- There will be an MSRI workshop on The Mathematics of Relaying and Cooperation in Communication Networks cohosted by Michael Gastpar on April 10-12, 2006.
- The members of the Wireless Foundations would like to extend our deepest condolences to Professor Eugene Wong and his family for the untimely passing of Joan Wong. Our thoughts and wishes are with
him and his family in this sad time.
- There will be a poster session on ongoing research projects at 3-5pm on February 23rd, 2006 as part of the BEARS workshop.
2005
- Prof. David Tse's book, Fundamentals of Wireless Communication, has just been published.
- Prof. Martin Wainwright has been selected to receive a 2005 Okawa Research Grant.
- Alyson Fletcher received the Eugene L. Lawler award from the EECS Department.
- Aaron Wagner received the Bernard Friedman Memorial prize in Applied Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics.
- Alex Dimakis, Vinod Prabhakaran and Kannan Ramchandran received a best paper award in IPSN 2005.
- The first Wireless Foundations Workshop was Friday Feb. 11th, 2005.
- Prof. Martin Wainwright has been selected as an Alfred Sloan Fellow for 2005 in Computer Science.
- Cheng Chang, Lara Dolecek, Raul Etkin, and Vinod Prabhakaran just passed their qualifying exams. Congratulations!
